Potty Pro!

About a week and a half ago we started potty training Boston. I was not thrilled with the idea of having to do this again so soon, but it turned out to be much better than I was expecting.
We had a potty party, and trained a doll how to potty first. Boston was not so into this. But he got treats, so he went along with it.
Then, when we brought out his big boy underpants, he was excited...but just about getting to open another present. NOT about putting them on. He cried and cried when I took off his last diaper and put him in underpants.
Don't let his cheesy grins fool you...he was not so happy about what was going on. He would cry every time we went to sit on the potty.
Once I got him on the potty he would sit their for a while and play...and very occasionally he would go in the potty...which I tried to be very excited about...but, still, not so exciting for him.
He had an okay day, so I still let him open his potty training present that we'd been working towards all day. He loved it!
However, the next few days were a little rough. The very next day, he got sick and we put the whole potty training thing on pause...it's not easy potty train when your throwing up! After that, we got right back to it. He knew when he needed to go to the bathroom, but would never get there in time. He was having several accidents a day and was actually excited to get to put on new underpants...so it wasn't a big deal to him. So, I started to think what would motivate him to get to the potty before he needed to go. This is what I came up with:
Boston loves money...but since he swallowed a penny a few months ago, I haven't let him have any at all. That was the ticket for him. I told him that he would get a 'money' every time he went on the potty...then he could buy a treat out of the gumball machine with it. And it worked!! He now tells me every time he needs to go and has had very, very few accidents. He actually like sitting on the potty now:)
This has also been motivating for him...he gets to put a sticker on everytime he goes on the potty. He doesn't know it yet, but when he fills it all the way up we are going to set up the bounce house. We just need to wait for a good day!
I am sooooooo glad that he is doing so well. Hudson was a lot harder and it was extremely stressful. I have been dreading having to do it again...but thankfully Boston has been cooperating and I haven't stressed over it at all! And, no more buying diapers...wahoo!!

A Little Creativity

I've been a little crafty lately and wanted to post a few things that I've done.
I made these cookies for Hudson's preschool. It was his turn with the treat bucket and I happened to notice that they were going to be talking about penguins that day. I found this somewhere on the interent using cupcakes...I just did them on sugar cookies.
Then, for Hudson's Valentine's Day party at school, I was just going to let Hudson have free reign on a shoebox with some paint and stickers...but Talen said that his treat box actually had to be something. This is what we came up with...a dump truck:
And for his Valentine's, I made some heart-shaped crayons out of old broken crayons we had. Talen said that they looked like candy...so hopefully none of the kids tried to eat them!
Hudson was very excited for his first Valentine's party. He was so excited to come home with a dump truck full of goodies!

Catch-up of posts: Christmas!

Okay...so I am well aware of how late this post is...but, better late than never, right? I'll just skim over the best parts:
Christmas eve we had dinner at Shaunelle and Dusty's. Then the kids got to open their pajamas from grandma and grandpa and play a gift exchange game. They all loved it.
Christmas morning. All Hudson wanted was a big green tractor...he was sure excited to see it sitting under the tree!
Boston was totally into opening presents. He was so excited about everything...even clothes and the boring stuff!
This was our favorite gift for the kids. We don't have a lot of room for more toys in our house, so we decided to get stuff for outside. We set it up at the grandparents and the kids played on it all day.
We had a really great Christmas...the boys are at such a fun age and loved every minute of it!!
